Eveclair There could not have been a better time for me to have received my NNIO HEPA-14 Air Purifier (NH14PRO).
Since the haze has started to appear again, I’ve become more aware of the air quality in my house. I was definitely interested in finding out what this small machine could do.
To be honest, I’m happy that I got it just in time to deal with the haze.
What is the NNIO HEPA-14 air purifier?
The NNIO HEPA 14 Air Purifier (NH14PRO) is designed to improve indoor air quality through
HEPA 14 filtration, UV sterilisation and negative ion purification. It is suitable for spaces up
to 520 sq ft and has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 400 m3/h.
NNIO is a home technology brand originating in Singapore and specialises in practical appliances for modern homes.
The first thing that attracted my attention regarding the NH14PRO was its HEPA-14 filter.
The product information states that the HEPA-14 filter is able to capture 99.995 per cent of airborne particles measuring as small as 0.3 microns, and the manual makes it clear that HEPA-14 is one of the highest grades within the EN 1822 standard.
I appreciate having an additional layer of air filtration at home since, in Singapore, we have to deal with haze, humidity, dust and all the ordinary indoor pollutants.
Just in Time for the Singapore Haze
The main reason why I’m so pleased to have the NNIO air purifier is the haze.
If the quality of the outside air is poor, I’m far less likely to keep the windows open for long. At the same time, though, I don’t want the air inside my house to seem stale.
An air purifier is something that suits me.
The NH14PRO is intended for rooms of up to 520 sq ft, which means it is not only suitable for a small bedroom. Its clean air delivery rate of 400m³/hr is also designed to deal with larger indoor areas.
There is also a PM2.5 sensor built into the purifier which monitors the fine particles in the air and shows the readings. When in Auto Mode the machine adjusts its speed according to the air quality detected by the sensor.
I prefer this since it avoids the need for me to decide whether or not to turn the purifier up or down.
I could turn Auto Mode on and have it make the adjustments itself.
HEPA-14 Filtration for Dust and Airborne Particles
A primary reason why people look for a HEPA air purifier in Singapore is its ability to filter the air.
The HEPA-14 filter in the NH14PRO is designed to capture very small airborne particles, with NNIO stating it can capture up to 99.995% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as dust and pollen. What interests me most is my hamster. Anyone who has once cleaned their small pet’s cage will know that a good deal of dust can end up there; even though my hamster is very small, cleaning the bedding and the cage may still result in dust particles floating about. I began using the NNIO air purifier when I was cleaning and have since noticed that I sneeze less.
That’s just my own opinion, not something I’m asserting as a medical statement, but it is a genuine observation that I’ve made since using the purifier in my home.
What about households with pets?
If you keep a cat or a dog at home, you should also consider air quality.
People who have pets have to put up with the fur, dust, and other particles that their pets bring into everyday life. One of the reasons why air purifiers are usually regarded as useful in houses with pets is that HEPA filtration can capture airborne particles.
NNIO also has a dedicated PET-PRO HEPA-14 air purifier designed for pet owners, featuring a dual-layer system to capture fur and allergens.
As I am currently looking at the NH14PRO, I can also understand why owners might want to think about using an air purifier.
It’s very useful for me since I have a hamster and there is extra dust involved in looking after her cage.
UV Sterilisation and Negative Ion Purification
The NH14PRO doesn’t rely solely on HEPA filtration.
It also includes a UV Light Mode and a Negative Ions Mode. According to the manual, the UV light function uses ultraviolet light to help kill or deactivate microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and mould spores.
The negative ion feature emits negatively charged ions that attach to positively charged particles like dust, pollen, and smoke, making them heavier and more likely to be caught by the filter or drop out of the air. You can also switch these functions on or off, depending on how you want to use the purifier.
Auto Mode Is Probably My Favourite
I really like appliances that don’t require much thought. Auto Mode on the NH14PRO regulates the speed based on the air quality sensed by its sensor. If you want to control it manually, you can choose from four speed settings.r For day-to-day use, I’ll set it to Auto Mode. I particularly enjoy the idea that it constantly monitors the air, rather than having to remember to change the settings myself during times of haze. Night Mode for the Bedroom
The NH14PRO also includes a Night Mode.
The indicator lights switch off except for the dim Night Mode indicator, and the purifier then runs at speed level 1 by default.
In your bedroom can be useful, since bright indicator lights might be distracting when you’re asleep.
You can likewise set a countdown timer in one-hour stages, up to a maximum of twelve hours.
Compact Enough for My Home
The NH14PRO may cover up to 520 sq ft but doesn’t look particularly bulky.
The dimensions are 315 x 315 x 560 mm, and the weight is 3.8kg, which means I can move it whenever I want to use it in another room.
The clean, simple design also means it doesn’t seem out of place in my living room.
It’s an appliance that can sit in a corner and do its job without drawing attention.
Don’t Forget the Filter
Like any other air purifier, the filter will eventually need replacing.
The NH14PRO comes with a filter reminder; the filter indicator will turn red after a total of 3,000 operating hours have been reached, which means it’s time to replace the filter.
I’m grateful for the reminder since I’m the kind of person who would otherwise forget about things that require maintenance.

What my opinion is: Would I use it during the haze season?
Yes.
The greatest benefit I get from having the NNIO HEPA-14 Air Purifier in the house is the peace of mind that comes from the extra stage of indoor air filtering.
No better time could have come about; with the haze present, I am more aware of keeping my indoor environment comfortable, and having the NH14PRO running means I have one fewer thing to worry about.
I didn’t expect the pet aspect to play such a major role in my experience.
Because I have a hamster, I have found that I sneeze less when cleaning his cage with the air purifier turned on. Again, this is just my personal observation, not a medical statement, but it is enough to keep me using the air purifier every time I do a thorough cage cleaning.
If you own a cat or a dog—particularly in a house with a lot of fur and dust—an air purifier might also be worth looking into.
I do enjoy the fact that the NH14PRO offers all the features such as HEPA-14 filtration, PM2.5 monitoring, Auto Mode, UV sterilisation, negative ion purification, Night Mode and a filter reminder in a single, relatively compact unit.
Getting it now, as I’m starting to think more about the haze, was absolutely the right timing. I hope that the haze won’t stay on for too long .But at least I’m ready.
