As a lifestyle blogger and content creator, I look for cameras that are easy to carry and can capture moments without adding bulk, so I decided to take the LUMOS DOMINATE Action Camera.

I wanted to see how well it suited the kind of content I usually produce, so I took the LUMOS DOMINATE Action Camera with me instead of testing it only at home.

I used it while visiting cafés and filmed at a pet café in Batam, and even took it swimming in Singapore.

After using it in all those situations, I was really impressed with the footage quality. The videos turned out sharp, and the camera suited my travel and lifestyle content.

A Handy Camera for My Batam Trip

I wanted to take an action camera to Batam because it would be convenient for the trip.

On trips, I never feel the need to bring big camera gear; most of the time I’m busy exploring, finding places to eat, and filming content.

The LUMOS DOMINATE was easy to carry, so I could keep it with me while hopping from café to café and exploring Batam Centre.

The camera records in 5K Ultra HD and 4K at 60FPS, takes 48MP photos, and has built-in EIS stabilisation, while its 170° wide-angle lens captures a wider view. In practice, these features made my travel and café footage look clear and smooth.

What matters most to me isn’t the specifications alone, but how the footage looks in reality.

When I went through the clips from my trip, I was really impressed by how sharp and clear the footage was.

Café Hopping and Exploring

On my visit to Batam, I spent a lot of time café hopping, so I brought the LUMOS DOMINATE with me.One feature I particularly liked was the 170° wide-angle lens. It captures a much wider view, which is useful when I want to show more of the surroundings in my travel content.

Instead of moving farther back just to fit everything into the frame, I could capture more of the café interior and the atmosphere around me in one shot. I found this especially useful for travel content because I want viewers to get a better sense of the places I visit, not just see me or one small part of the location.

Whether I’m filming a café interior, walking around a new place, or capturing the surroundings while exploring, the wide-angle view helps make the footage feel more immersive.

Testing It at a Pet Café

I also took the camera to a pet café with dogs, and that gave me another chance to test it in a more active setting.

A woman stands in a room, facing a dog, with a Lumos Dominate action camera in her hand.

Dogs don’t exactly stay still when you’re trying to film them!

Since they were constantly moving around and doing unexpected things, I wanted to see how easily I could capture those moments.

I was impressed by how quickly I could start recording and capture what was happening. The footage was clear, and I could follow the dogs as they moved around without spending too much time worrying about getting the perfect shot.

That’s where I found an action camera really useful. When something interesting happens in front of you, you can simply start recording and capture the moment.

The Front and Back Screens Are Great for Vlogging

As a content creator, I really appreciated having two screens.

The LUMOS DOMINATE has screens on both the front and back, which makes it easier to compose shots whether you’re filming yourself, your environment, or something happening in front of you.

It’s very useful when vlogging to have a front screen so I can check whether I’m in the frame.

I don’t want to record an entire clip only to find that my head had been cut off!

It also makes it much easier to film myself when I’m travelling. Once I’ve placed the camera, I can check the composition and start recording without constantly guessing what it’s seeing.

The feature is very practical for anyone producing Reels, TikToks, travel videos or vlogs.

Taking the LUMOS DOMINATE Swimming

I even took the camera with me when swimming, please note that the video is compressed to be able to be played on my WordPress site not the actual quality of Lumos Dominate action camera.

A woman displays a Lumos Dominate action camera, positioned in front of a swimming pool, preparing for a photo or video shoot.

It was one of the most enjoyable ways I found to test it, since using an action camera in the water lets me record situations I normally couldn’t film with my phone.

The waterproof case that comes with the LUMOS DOMINATE is suitable for swimming, snorkelling, and filming in the rain.

I was genuinely pleased with the footage I captured while swimming. The footage was really sharp, even underwater, and gave me a different kind of content from what I usually produce in my café and lifestyle videos.

That’s one reason action cameras are so much fun: you don’t have to limit yourself to filming only when you’re sitting down somewhere safe with your phone.

LUMOS Gives You More of What You Need

What stands out about LUMOS is the accessories included in the Travel Bundle. When you’re buying your first action camera, you may also need extra batteries, a waterproof case, a charging dock, a tripod, a selfie stick, mounts, and somewhere to keep everything.

The LUMOS Travel Bundle includes the camera in its waterproof case, two extra rechargeable batteries, a dual-battery charging dock, a hard carrying case, a selfie stick that doubles as an extension pole, a flexible mini tripod, a wireless remote, and several mounting accessories. During my trip, I found the battery life reliable, and the extra batteries meant I never had to worry about running out of power.

LUMOS knows people need both the camera and the accessories to use it. Having so many of these items included means you don’t have to buy everything separately or spend a lot more on gear.

A Starter Action Camera Without the Large Price Tag

I don’t intend to substitute professional camera equipment. I’m looking for a camera that’s practical for travelling, vlogging, and other activities, which is why the LUMOS DOMINATE is an interesting option for hobbyists and first-time action camera users.

The camera alone costs $199.00, while the bundle is $258.00 and includes a one-year local warranty and committed customer support. When you consider everything that comes with the Travel Bundle, it makes the camera more approachable for someone who doesn’t want to spend a hefty amount on a camera and then buy accessories afterwards.

What sets LUMOS apart for me is that it gives you the basics you need to start creating without making the setup unnecessarily costly.

Since I took the LUMOS DOMINATE to Batam, I’ve put it through a solid real-life test.

I used it at several cafés, took it into the large Coffee Factory, filmed dogs moving quickly at a pet café, and put it in the water in Singapore.

What impressed me most was the footage quality. Everything came out really sharp, and I liked how easy it was to capture. The wide-angle lens was especially useful at big sites like the Coffee Factory, the waterproof case let me film underwater, and the front and back screens were very helpful for vlogging and filming myself.

After my Batam trip, the LUMOS DOMINATE proved to be a camera I’m happy to bring along on my next adventure. I look forward to testing more of its features on future trips.

It’s also nice knowing that LUMOS is a local award-winning brand, with over 2,000 five-star reviews over the years. For me, I like that it offers the essentials for creating without making the whole setup unnecessarily costly, something that makes it easy to bring along and just start filming.
